Welcome to the Coatesville Dems Blog

Public Corruption in Chester County, PA

I believe an unlikely mix of alleged drug trafficking related politicos and alleged white nationalist related politicos united to elect the infamous “Bloc of Four” in the abysmal voter turnout election of 2005. During their four year term the drug business was good again and white nationalists used Coatesville as an example on white supremacist websites like “Stormfront”. Strong community organization and support from law enforcement, in particular Chester County District Attorney Joseph W. Carroll has begun to turn our community around. The Chester County drug trafficking that I believe centers on Coatesville continues and I believe we still have public officials in place that profit from the drug sales. But the people here are amazing and continue to work against the odds to make Coatesville a good place to live.

FINALLY- POLICE REPORTS FROM THE CITY OF COATESVILLE PD

For several years the  City of Coatesville PD was the only police department I'm aware of that routinely did not provide police reports. I don't know the reason why. The only way to know about the frequent and often violent crimes in Coatesville was by word of mouth. That is, talking to store employees concerning robberies at gunpoint and individuals that were mugged about muggings. I sometimes wrote about those crimes on my blog.

Even the Coatesville City Council was in the dark concerning crime in Coatesville. The crime in the press was reported by the Chester County District Attorney.

The police reports do eventually get out as statistics:

I believe that the lack of routine police reports led some people to believe that some of the local press was unreasonably singling out Coatesville as a bad place to live.

MOST OF CHESTER COUNTY’S VIOLENT CRIME DOES OCCUR IN COATESVILLE. THE REASON PEOPLE MOVE OUT OF COATESVILLE IS NOT HIGH TAXES. IT'S THE VIOLENT CRIME.

I think that withholding press reports of crime in Coatesville led some Coatesville City Council members and a few residents to believe that reducing the number of Coatesville PD officers was a reasonable way to balance the budget.

  • High taxes are not the reason that people don't want to live in Coatesville.
  • The reason that real estate salesmen avoid mentioning how close a home is to Coatesville is not high taxes.
  • Our high taxes is not the reason many people avoid driving into Coatesville.

The way to bring developers and more homeowners and a reasonable tax base to Coatesville is to actually reduce the crime here. Cutting back spending on police to reduce taxes will only accelerate the exodus of tax paying residents and store owners. Laying off police made business and developers lay off of Coatesville.

I like that we are finally seeing police reports in the press from the City of Coatesville PD.
