Hodgkinson doesn’t fit any profile of terrorist. 

We talk about left wing Democrats, middle of the road Republicans and right wing Republicans. But the entire political spectrum has swung dramatically right wing. If President Eisenhower was alive today he would be a left wing Democrat. 

That kind of makes James T. Hodgkinon an ordinary American. There are a lot of ordinary Americans.  And ordinary Americans own firearms, lot's of firearms, not pitchforks.

"Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), who was one of about two dozen GOP lawmakers present when a gunman opened fire on their baseball practice early Wednesday, vigorously defended the Second Amendment after a reporter asked him if it changed his view on the “gun situation” in America.

"Not with respect to the Second Amendment,” Brooks responded. “The Second Amendment, the right to bear arms is to help ensure that we always have a republic."

So what part of ensuring we always have a republic did James T. Hodgkinson defend?

According to the NRA’s warped version of the 2nd. Amendment, Hodgkinson was defending the republic. 

But instead of defending the republic against a black president from Kenya, or Mexicans retaking California, Texas and the Southwest United States, so arms manufactures could sell lots of guns & ammo, Hodgkinson was defending the republic from Republicans like Mo Brooks. He was defending the republic against .01% people like the Koch brothers, Donald Trump, Rex Tillerson, Lloyd Blankfein, etc. 

How would the Trump Administration respond to an attack on, with the exception of some Jersey mafia thugs, the only kind of people he has ever known? Keep in mind that Trump has a ready made police state waiting to be activated. 

Mo Brooks might want to rethink what he said. 

Hodgkinson was a Democrat and definitely not a Trump supporter. What happens when Trump supporters figure out they have been betrayed?

"Republicans used to be slightly better about hiding this from people but,.. I think that Trump's great challenge is that fundamentally he's an incredibly stupid person. So he and his merry band of miscreants struggle to hide their true intentions. In the same way that the Republicans that preceded him were able to do.  

He was going to "make America great again" finally someone was going to drain the swamp and fight Wall Street and defend working people. You don't think that a trillion dollar tax cut for millionaires and billionaires that throws 20 million people off of health care. That's not draining the swamp?...  

It's quite an astounding thing politically to run on a relatively populist platform and then to enact, or attempt to enact policies that clearly only benefit the richest people in society. People are creatures of emotion and I know that his supporters, his core supporters will do anything to maintain their emotional connection to him and their support of his polices irrespective of what the evidence suggests.   

But eventually those feelings will collide with reality and a huge proportion of the 23 million people who are going to lose healthcare are Trump supporters. One has to believe eventually it will make them angry.  

And the scary thing is that those folks started out angry. And our politics today is uncivil and unconstructive because so many people in the country are angry.  

I think we've seen nothing yet. I think it's going to get much much worse."

In the run up to the 2016 elections hate and fear is manifest on all sides, even non-voters and people who ignore elections are concerned. 

That hate of course includes the 60% Republican xenophobic, "Christian", anti-government racists who see Donald Trump or Ted Cruze as their national savior. 

But there is a universal malaise, a solid rational base for that hate and fear that grips all of us.

The loss of friends and family members in needless and very long wars that we were tricked into supporting by people who would profit from those wars, fear of losing all that you have if you get sick, steady loss of real income over 4 decades, fear of terrorist attacks, fear that your children will be shot and killed in school, fear that ends won't meet and like so many others you could be homeless. We had 15 years of disappointment and fear. 

There's an underlying hate that's universal. It's hatred of the Wall Street bankers that caused the depression of 2007 and ruined so very many peoples lives…

Most terrorist attacks in the United States for about the last 17 years are almost exclusively right wing terrorist attacks. Their politics is almost exclusively white supremacist. The stuff they believe in ranges from plain old Southern racist KKK bigotry to unbelievable tinfoil hat stuff like believing that white people are descended from space aliens.

Slingers in Coatesville watch "The Wire". They have their favorite characters.

A young man at the Regency Park Apartments had a character on "The Wire" he said is "like me." But I have trouble getting DAs, police and educators to watch "The Wire."   

“The Wire” is  cops, dealers, hit men. DAs, attorneys, teachers, politicians, judges, social workers, city council members/drug dealers. 

State elected officials legislative assistants get caught on the wire.  Everything you find in “The Wire’s” City of Baltimore, you find in Coatesville, PA. 

The Wire's not a standard show. Good guys win. Bad guys win. Good police work. Shit police work. Expect comedy between cops. Comedy between cops and dealers. 

Not much cinematic music. Music is on a car radio, in a store or house. 

"The Wire's" characters, what they do, who their relatives are, their business associates are, their girlfriends, judges, real estate builders, teachers, school administrators, city council members, drug dealers, crooked real estate builder connected state reps. You need a flow chart to keep up. Just like Coatesville. 

"The Wire" get's it. The SPLC get's it. The "War on Drugs" is about keeping black people and poor people that might vote for Democrats down.




But change is happening.  Change that most people didn't see coming.

In 2007 motorcycle gangs moved most drugs.

I noticed the change in 2010. Oxycontin started it. White people addicted to Oxycontin moved to lower priced heroin.

Mexican cartels needed to upgrade.

Legal marijuana began to kill the illegal marijuana market. Mexican cartels responded, conceived a WalMart style, farm to customer heroin logistics system. The old Pagans & Hell's Angels drug distribution system can't compete.

Heroin is a white drug now.

The top suppliers are Mexico for heroin and China for fentanyl . The black slingers are the same. But the addicts are white. And there are white slingers in suburban homes now. It's an epidemic.

1. There’s been no public debate about these drastic cuts to Medicaid.” 

As usual, our man Andy Slavitt, who ran the ACA, Medicaid and Medicare for President Obama, puts the stakes of the GOP’s attack on our health care system in the clearest terms. Half of the people on Medicaid are children; the program pays for about half of the births in America and a similar percentage of the dollars we spend on long-term care for the aged, which leads us to point we cannot ignore. 

2.  An attack on Medicaid is an attack on Medicare. 

Cindy Mann and Allison Orris sound an alarm that has not yet broken out of wonkdom in defense of the “11 million Medicare beneficiaries who also rely on Medicaid for key components of their care.” Yes, about 1 of 5 of the poorest Medicare beneficiaries could be hurt by Trumpcare. This could drastically reduce states’ ability to provide home care, which would drive seniors to hospitals, spiking Medicare costs and justifying Republican cries to cut Medicare spending. 

3.  The cuts to Medicaid would be immediate and unconscionable. 

There’s no “glide path” path for cutting Medicaid. Right now the debate in the Senate has centered around how quickly to roll back Medicaid expansion to leave millions uninsured. It’s a useless debate because as soon as expansion is frozen, millions would start losing coverage fast as states feel the fiscal pinch, Dee Mahan, Director of Medicaid Initiatives at Families USA notes. “Millions who face tough economic times in the future and need Medicaid’s safety net will become uninsured,” she writes. 

4 and 5: 

"These points seem to me to most clearly underline the GOP’s plot against the most vulnerable but there’s so much more including how these cuts could worsen the opioid crisis, punish the disabled and wreak havoc on special education. 

Medicaid has a unique name in each state and many people aren’t even aware that they and their family have or will rely on it. STILL, it’s extraordinarily popular — with more than 8 of 10 Americans saying it’s very important for Congress to keep funding for Medicaid expansion. 

But it’s not just expansion that’s at risk; it’s Medicaid as we know it. And as long as the GOP can make the Trumpcare debate about anything else, they have a chance to win it.
