Walgreens Store Plans signed by the Coatesville City Council

This is what the Walgreens site looks like today:

At Monday evenings Coatesville City Council meeting Regular Action Item number one was; receive and consider the Development Agreement, the Financial Security Agreement and the form of Bond for the Walgreens Construction.

Coatesville City Council member Mr. Brazzle had a very good question, “Is there was any way we could put lights up there? It gets really dark and it’s really dangerous. A kid could hop over a fence or something."

All of Walgreen’s documents and plans were approved. They were all signed by the City Council members after the meeting was over. I left City Hall about 10:45 and saw City Council President Karl Marking busily signing a very large pile of documents in the conference room.

Larry Pratt and Coatesville's Pat Sellers

You might remember Pat Sellers for his “Referendum” designed to protect the “Saha Farm” from eminent domain and as a rigorous campaigner for the infamous “Bloc of Four” Coatesville City Council. Pat Sellers allegedly has a connection to Larry Pratt.

 Larry Pratt is mentioned in "Land of the Paranoid" in today’s Washington Post:

“As much of the right sees it, the government is planning to incarcerate its enemies (see Beck and Erickson, above), socialize the economy and take away everyone's guns. At the fringe, we have figures like Larry Pratt, executive director of the Gun Owners of America, who told a rally in Washington last April that, ‘We're in a war. The other side knows they are at war, because they started it. They are coming for our freedom, for our money, for our kids, for our property. They are coming for everything because they are a bunch of socialists."

Pat Sellers ran for PA 6^th District US Congress twice; once in 1996 and again in 2010. Below is an excerpt form the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal concerning Sellers' run for Congress in 1996:

“Sellers, an electrical worker who trails his opponent in the race, has also come under fire recently for seeking the support of Larry Pratt, a former aide to presidential candidate Pat Buchannan.

 Pratt is executive director of Gun Owners of America. He left the Buchanan Campaign after the media reported on his ties to the Ku Klux Klan and the white supremacist group Aryan Nation.

 Pratt has indorsed Sellers and will be the keynote speaker at a fund-raising dinner for Sellers next week.

 Sellers said the allegations against Pratt are untrue and that he sought Pratt’s support because of his expertise on gun issues.”

Pat Sellers was the alleged author of “the majority of the articles in the (Coatesville Recorder) flyer”.

Coatesville doesn’t need hate fliers

Coatesville is a good town, a growing town, and a town with big plans. Coatesville however has more that its share of close-minded individuals. Hate is growing and spreading throughout Coatesville like weeds in a junkyard. There is a discord in many areas of Coatesville especially in governmental circles. So far, only our churches are immune. But, that could change tomorrow if the hate-mongers have their way.

Why would someone who reads the  American Renaissance (see page 2) help to elect a mostly black Coatesville City Council?

Pat Sellers ran for Congress in Pennsylvania 6th Congressional District again in the 2010 Primary Elections. Below is a quote from Pat Sellers for Congress website:

Why is it that comedians get it right and main stream news doesn’t?

I think at least part of the answer is that comedians don’t need access to politicians, corporations and other officials. They can just say what happens and not talk or write themselves out of a job.

The blood of 18 people in Tucson is on the hands of people who don’t bother with voting.

Issues dear to GOP ideology:

 On unemployment the Republicans blame the “lazy unemployed”

 Taxes, for everyone but the wealthy

 Pollution equals profits for wealthy

 Ponzi/fraud banks are good for the wealthy

 Social Security and Medicare must go, the wealthy don’t need them and GOP employers are forced to pay half of SS taxes

 On health care insurance companies come first not people with medical needs.

 American industry, send it to the companies of the wealthy in China.

 The cash from the wealthy that pours into GOP coffers makes supporting issues dear to the wealthy a comfortable choice for Republican politicians.

 The issues dear to the Republicans are abhorrent to most people.

But in spite of their extremely unpopular positions, Republicans can win elections by calling out their “base” to overwhelm the polling places. What drives the Republican “base” is hate of government, hate of gays, and hate of brown skinned people. And love of guns to kill people in all of those groups.

The Republicans are not going to give up hate. Hate is how they win elections.

The fires of hate have been stoked by the Republicans for decades. There are 90 guns for every 100 Americans. In my view there is much more anti-government hate and violence to come. Any change in the growth of anti-government hate and violence has to come from people who vote.

People who vote, there is the real problem.

The hate speech of the Republican Party is extremely effective at swaying people who actually turn out to vote.  Only about ½ of the people who could vote are even registered to vote. Voter turnout of registered voters in the USA is usually abysmal.

If 100% of our citizens would bother to register to vote and take an hour out of their day twice a year to vote; the Republican Party would bear no resemblance to the right wing extremist dominated party that it now is. The Republicans would have to embrace the overwhelming numbers of Americans who want a peaceful society, total access to good health care, good education and to be able to hope for a good future for their children. 

I was reminded of the "credible threat" on Obama Staff in Coatesville

In reading the two posts below I was reminded of the Obama Campaign in Coatesville.

During the run up to the November Election in Coatesville I walked into the Obama Campaign Headquarters in Coatesville and was greeted by a security guard. I asked the staff members why the guard was there and was told there was a “credible threat” to Obama staff members in Chester County. They received round the clock security. I never found out the details of the “credible threat”.

Right off I can think of 3 Chester County residents I know that I believe are capable of doing something like what happened in Tucson.

I just want people to be aware that something like the Tucson tragedy can happen here in Chester County.

There are some similarities between Coatesville and Hamilton, both are steel producing cities and both are multi-ethnic ; however Coatesville’s population is about 12,000 and Hamilton’s population is about 647,634. Both Coatesville and Hamilton have suffered from a decline in the steel industry. Hamilton sits within a green belt much like Coatesville sits in the middle of the rolling countryside of Chester County. Like the City of Coatesville, the City of Hamilton is reinventing itself.

It’s not about politics, Republicans vs. Democrats; it’s about domestic terrorism.

Much of the extreme right organizations are domestic terrorists. The hate the government speech of Palin, much of Fox reporting and some high ranking Republicans has become a recruitment tool of domestic terrorists.

Maybe the extremist right will take a hit from Tucson just like Oklahoma City in 1995 but extremism is much more pervasive and deeply embedded now.  

It’s now clear that Fox News and Palin will not give up the hate the government, hate brown skinned people and hate the gays speech; they are the only issues the Republican Party have.

Mr. Loughner has not been linked with any particular group but with our internet communications face to face meetings in secluded areas are not essential to terrorist groups anymore. A terrorist can be nurtured with internet communications and act entirely on his or her own.

This is domestic terrorism and not politics. It’s a law enforcement issue. 

Mr.Loughner appears to have accepted at least part of the beliefs of “Sovereign Citizens”. Two “Sovereign Citizens” murdered two West Memphis, Ark., police officers on May 20, 2010.  In response to the growing problem of "Sovereign Citizen' terrorists; the Southern Poverty Law Center has produced and posted online an instructional video intended for showing during roll call at law enforcement agencies:
