Public Corruption in Chester County, PA

I believe an unlikely mix of alleged drug trafficking related politicos and alleged white nationalist related politicos united to elect the infamous “Bloc of Four” in the abysmal voter turnout election of 2005. During their four year term the drug business was good again and white nationalists used Coatesville as an example on white supremacist websites like “Stormfront”. Strong community organization and support from law enforcement, in particular Chester County District Attorney Joseph W. Carroll has begun to turn our community around. The Chester County drug trafficking that I believe centers on Coatesville continues and I believe we still have public officials in place that profit from the drug sales. But the people here are amazing and continue to work against the odds to make Coatesville a good place to live.

Coatesville Rep Harry Lewis pro-Mariner East. 83 yr. old pipeline refitted from 700 to 1400 psi. Will it explode?

“The eight-inch line had been used to transport refined petroleum to the west at 700 psi, but, beginning in 2014, will be used to transport liquefied propane to the east at 1,400 psi, Buckley said.”…
“Engineer and self-described “natural gas activist” Steve Todd told The Sun that the dangers of a pipeline containing gas are astronomically higher. He said that propane and ethane are gases under pressure and that a gas will explode back into its container much quicker than refined petroleum.
‘It is a danger either way,’ Todd said. ‘Piping gas is always more inherently destructive because fugitive gases are constantly being released into the atmosphere.”

When questions alluding to the installation of a pipeline across the county, Lewis advocated his general support for businesses like that to come into the county, saying it creates jobs and provides additional sources of revenue for local government.

Maxwell disagreed and advocated for an expansion of local governments’ authority to stand up to so-called big business.

COATESVILLE >> Downingtown Mayor Josh Maxwell faced off against incumbent state Rep. Harry Lewis Jr. at the Coatesville Area Senior Center on Saturday during a debate that highlighted multiple differences between the two candidates.
Maxwell, a Democrat, is challenging Lewis, a Caln Republican, for his seat in the 74th Legislative District.

Lewis is right. Shale gas pipelines generate local taxes, but not in Pennsylvania:

“Unlike surrounding states, the commonwealth does not tax pipelines as property”

The stuff about Mariner East creating jobs in Philadelphia is BS.

MARINER EAST CREATES JOBS IN EUROPE.

Mariner East pipelines go from Pennsylvania to Norway:

The INEOS Intrepid, the world’s largest LNG multi gas carrier, today left the Marcus Hook terminal near Philadelphia bound for Rafnes in Norway carrying 27,500m3 of US shale gas ethane.
This is the first time that US shale gas has ever been shipped to Europe and represents the culmination of a long-term investment by INEOS.
The shale gas is cooled to -90ºC (-130ºF) for the journey of 3,800 miles, which is expected to take nine to ten days. US shale gas will complement the reducing gas feed from the North Sea...
INEOS today confirmed that its ship, the INEOS Intrepid, has left the Marcus Hook terminal near Philadelphia bound for Rafnes in Norway, carrying 27.500m3 of US shale gas ethane.
This is the first time that US shale gas has ever been imported into Europe and finally gives the continent the chance to benefit from US shale gas economics which did so much to revitalise manufacturing in the USA.
The INEOS Intrepid is one of four specially designed Dragon class ships that will form part of a fleet of eight of the world’s largest ethane capable carriers. The INEOS Intrepid has “SHALE GAS FOR PROGRESS” emblazoned along its 180 metre length.

Jim Ratcliffe, the chairman and founder of INEOS says, “Shale gas economics has revitalised US manufacturing. When US shale gas arrives in Europe, it has the potential to do the same for European manufacturing”.
The project has included the long-term chartering of eight Dragon class ships and will create a virtual pipeline across the Atlantic; connection to the new 300 mile Mariner East pipeline from the Marcellus shale in Western Pennsylvania to the Marcus Hook deep water terminal near Philadelphia, with new export facilities and storage tanks.

Evergas has signed contracts with Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) for the design and construction of a series of 27,500m3 multi-gas carriers in April 2013.

In January 2013, Evergas signed 15-year charter agreements with INEOS for transporting ethane to Europe from the Mariner East project in the US, beginning in 2015. Under the agreements, Evergas will provide and operate customised vessels to transport ethane supplies to INEOS's facilities. The contract was expanded to six vessels in May 2014.

The Triple-E class container ships are to be built by South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).
INEOS signed an agreement with Evergas in November 2014 for the extension of the new-build vessels from six to eight units. The fleet of eight vessels will transport shale gas from the US to INEOS's petrochemical complexes in Grangemouth, Scotland, and Rafnes, Norway.

“Sunoco lies, they bully and they threaten.”
“Worried residents crowded the Downingtown East Auditorium looking for answers”
“But to put this through a neighborhood with this kind of population density…So doesn’t it make sense that if a pipeline fails in a high concentration area, there will be high consequences.”

"Wylie said that project, the Mariner East project, would connect an old, re-purposed pipeline at Sunoco's Marcus Hook industrial complex on the Delaware River to three high-pressure pipelines that would bring methane and liquid natural gas products to Chester County.

'These three very high-pressure pipelines will be going next to schools, through many wetlands, very close to communities and even in some cases under people's houses because development came to the area after the old pipeline was installed,' Wylie said.'
