Public Corruption in Chester County, PA

I believe an unlikely mix of alleged drug trafficking related politicos and alleged white nationalist related politicos united to elect the infamous “Bloc of Four” in the abysmal voter turnout election of 2005. During their four year term the drug business was good again and white nationalists used Coatesville as an example on white supremacist websites like “Stormfront”. Strong community organization and support from law enforcement, in particular Chester County District Attorney Joseph W. Carroll has begun to turn our community around. The Chester County drug trafficking that I believe centers on Coatesville continues and I believe we still have public officials in place that profit from the drug sales. But the people here are amazing and continue to work against the odds to make Coatesville a good place to live.

Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh and Cliven Bundy are both“ Posse Comitatus / Sovereign Citizens”

Cliven Bundy obviously adheres to the “Posse Comitatus / Sovereign Citizen” extremist ideology. The very same ideology of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.

The best most easy to understand history of the extreme right wing Posse Comitatus and Sovereign Citizens is on this video by Rachel Maddow:

This SPLC Intelligence Report concerns the 20th Century version of Posse Comitatus:

I might know someone on either end of a domestic terrorist attack. It keeps me up at night.

April 19th / 20th is coming up.

Extremists Look to April Anniversaries
April 6, 2005
"April is a month that looms large in the calendar of many extremists in the United States, from racists and anti- Semites to anti-government groups. Some groups organize events to commemorate these April dates. Moreover, there is always a certain threat that one or more extremists may choose to respond to these anniversaries with some sort of violent act.
Because of these anniversaries, law enforcement officers, community leaders and school officials should be vigilant, especially during the period April 15 to April 24."

News programs concerning white nationalist patriot groups are coming mostly from the west and midwest. But I think Pennsylvania has more white nationalist patriot group members than states west of here.
“The number of Vietnam veterans in that movement was small — a tiny proportion of those who served — but Vietnam veterans forged the first links between Klansmen and Nazis since World War II. They were central in leading Klan and neo-Nazi groups past the anti-civil rights backlash of the 1960s and toward paramilitary violence. The white power movement they forged had strongholds not only in the South, but also in the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, California and Pennsylvania. Its members carried weapons like those they had used in Vietnam, and used boot-camp rhetoric to frame their pursuit of domestic enemies. They condoned violence against innocent people and, eventually, the state itself…
Mr. Miller obviously represents an extreme, both in his politics and in his violence. A vast majority of veterans are neither violent nor mentally ill. When they turn violent, they often harm themselves, by committing suicide. But it would be irresponsible to overlook the high rates of combat trauma among the 2.4 million Americans who have served in our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the full impact of which has not yet materialized. Veterans of those conflicts represent just 10 percent of those getting mental
health services through the Department of Veterans Affairs, where the overwhelming majority of those in treatment are still Vietnam veterans.

During Mr. Miller’s long membership in the white power movement, its leaders have robbed armored cars, engaged in counterfeiting and the large-scale theft of military weapons, and carried out or planned killings. The bombing by Timothy J. McVeigh, an Army veteran, of the federal building in Oklahoma City in 1995, which killed 168 people, was only the most dramatic of these crimes. When we interpret shootings like the one on Sunday as acts of mad, lone-wolf gunmen, we fail to see white power as an organized — and deadly — social movement.”

You don't need to go to Idaho to find White Separatist Militia types.  You don't have to go outside of Chester County.

The John Birch Society was raging when we saw the Chad Mitchell Trio.

They performed at West Chester College sometime in the 1960s. I can't remember the date.

The Civil Rights Act and “Commie” Martin Luther King Jr. was a huge topic among J.B.S. members.
The J.B.S. was very active in York County, PA.  John Birch Society members handed out flyers at the town square, George and Market Streets.
York was a very strange place in the 1960s.
One brief cause of celebration was the time a York PD police dog was released to attack a black man and instead attacked a much resented York PD motorcycle cop.
The York Police Department allegedly worked with White gangs to target young black men walking alone, with the blessing of the mayor.
Several people told me the Mayor of York was insane.
York City exploded in violence after the murder of Martin Luther King Jr:

“The 1960s saw a buildup of black resentment against a city administration that they said systematically ignored their community’s needs and a police force that used dogs and other tough tactics to antagonize blacks.
In 1968, the year the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. plunged the nation into deepening racial turmoil, a state human rights commission admonished York for its polarized racial atmosphere and warned of the potential for violence.
In July 1969, York exploded.
Violence between white and black youths unleashed more than a week of mayhem. Buildings were set afire, police barricaded black neighborhoods and enforced curfews and the National Guard rolled in on tanks to try to restore order.
Amid the chaos, a white police officer, Henry Schaad, suffered a fatal gunshot wound while riding in an armored vehicle that came under fire. Four days later, Lillie Belle Allen, a young black mother of two visiting from Aiken, S.C., died in a hail of gunfire when her car stalled while she was trying to steer away from white gang members.
The slayings went unpunished and questions unanswered for three decades until prosecutors, acting on new information dug up by reporters, began asking questions.
Eventually, they charged 12 people, including Charlie Robertson, the mayor at the time, in an extraordinary investigation that grabbed national headlines. Two white men were convicted of second-degree murder in Allen’s slaying, while seven others pleaded guilty or no contest to lesser charges. Two black men were convicted of second-degree murder in Schaad’s death.
Robertson, a police officer during the riots who was accused of stirring up white gang members and inciting violence against blacks, was acquitted.
The trials proved to be cathartic, if uncomfortable, for many in the city. More than six years after the last person went to jail, some blacks say they don't feel as though the city is entirely integrated.
“I’m 36. I've never been in trouble with the law and I’m still a suspect,” said Shawn Ford, who runs a general contracting business in York and is black.”
