LIke coal mining in West Virginia, Coatesville's drug dealer glory days are never coming back.

The drug business, in particular cocaine, is waning here (and heroin is expanding in rural areas). West Chester slumlords and their stash houses are being replaced by planned new condos and apartments. But change is resisted in Coatesville. 

The article below is from 2011. The business model of motorcycle clubs bringing cocaine packages into Coatesville and retail distributed out of Coatesville to the surrounding area is gone.

Local teens who move the crack bags and act as corner lookouts call their hometown “Cook Cokeville.” The town was once a major supplier of steel under the Lukens and later Bethlehem Steel banners; its mill even produced girders for the World Trade Center. The mill remains operational, owned now by Luxemburg conglomerate ArcelorMittal, and while its sprawling campus still dominates the landscape, it no longer drives the local economy as it once did. Crack cocaine replaced the steel."

Coatesville as a drug distribution center is on the way out:

West Chester slumlord/stash house/drug business that was allegedly nurtured for such a long time by former Chester County Republican Committee Area 14 Chairman Richard Legree is being replaced by a system that doesn't need Coatesville to distribute drugs. 

Just like the coal mining business in West Virginia, Coatesville's drug dealer glory days are never coming back. 

Heroin has replaced cocaine. And most importantly heroin that is sold directly from Mexico. Mexican cartels adopted Walmart's business model. Or maybe Amazon's business model. High quality Mexican heroin is delivered directly to you door. 

Coatesville drug dealers business model is collapsing. 

t began to collapse when marijuana was legalized. The Mexican cartels lost their marijuana business. They had a spectacular rebound with a much more profitable heroin business. 

Mexican drug cartels created a new business model. They market high quality white heroin and they don't need Coatesville anymore to distribute their product. It comes direct to your door. It comes direct to the doors of white kids, in cities, in suburban and rural areas and so we have a Heroin Epidemic.

Republicans who call the shots in Chester County understand that Coatesville's drug business is on the way out. So Republicans are now on board with revitalization. 

Coatesville is near to coming back as a center for commerce in Western Chester County. As the commercial business and residential area between Lancaster and Philadelphia. But I think we are still in a dangerous place, in part because Trump could win. And If Clinton wins Trump supporters might dig up their AR-15s & ammo. Even the election itself could be bloody. But that's another story. 

The circle of West Chester slumlord owned stash houses, drug business, paid off officials, West Chester attorneys paid by drug money and West Chester Courthouse growth paid for by the “War on Drugs” is broken. Broken by Mexican heroin.
