Here in Coatesville, we know what the people in Boise feel. The look on the face of a man standing by a “have you seen Aaron Turner” poster told me something terrible happened.

His chainsawed body was never found. Chester County’s a  beautiful place, but there’s a sadness here. You go by places where terrible things happened. Reminders.

Photography keeps me out of despair. 

Photography gives me an excuse to look for the beauty that is always, always there, but usually ignored. Do enough of it and you look even when a camera isn’t in your hands.

I began photography with a Mamiyaflex, Nikon F and Black & white printing in 1966. I’ve always loved color but except expensive for dye transfer printing a photographer had no control over color. Until digital photography.

I knew a Marine named David Douglas who was at Khe Sanh just after David Douglas Duncan left. 

I also subscribe to  “Three Blind Men And An Elephant” because they do local videos right here in Chester County, PA about the Mariner East Pipeline:

Most photographers had no control over color until Photoshop. And, Nikon then put video into DSLRs as an afterthought. Now anyone has  iMovie & DaVinci.  Now I can do this:
