The former heavy industrial land that once divided Coatesville in two pieces is now gone. A commercial and retail area can unite the City of Coatesville at its busiest intersection.
But underneath the commercial residential zoning overlay the "Flats" brownfield is still zoned as heavy industrial and Florida Power and Light and other electric power companies have Coatesville on their radar.
If removing our RDA and selling the flats to the highest bidder is considered we could wind up losing Coatesville's best chance to come back as a viable town, that is the brownfield as a commercial development linking the east and west portions of Coatesville.
If our brownfield reverts to heavy industrial with an electric power plant or the proppant chemical plant, Coatesville's chances of coming back are sunk.
I don't know what to expect from our current Coatesville City Council. They scare me.
