Was anyone surprised Monday night?

The  'acting' chief is now issuing orders as 'Chief' and he's ordering uniforms for himself. It looks like he's settling in. Did anyone really believe it wasn't a done deal?

It's oblivious that crapping all over the PD is good for the drug business. And it's obvious that a lot of people here want to keep the drug business hard and strong.

"Coatesville was ready to turn over and then these new guys came in." Tom Hogan from a phone conversation March 2006.

It was easy to see the connection of good profits in the drug business with the "Bloc of Four" and Walker/Legree.  Proving it in court was different. You would probably have needed wiretaps. And maybe the files Walker took home. The FBI had no search warrant for Walker's pad in Coatesville.

Basic things have not changed. Redeveloping Coatesville would still nearly kill the drug business here as it did in Phoenixville. The population of Coatesville could have grown up to 20,000 people. Seven thousand new people most of them without family in Coatesville. In many of Coatesville families, both Black and White families go back several generations.  My grandfather came here in 1910.  When where your grandchildren, your nieces and nephews live is well known, it's easy to threaten witnesses. In Coatesville a murder can happen in view of several people and "nobody saw it".

How many people are allegedly dipping into the drug money river that many Coatesville residents, public officials and civic leaders have, I believe, grown accustomed to.

I don't really think the current crop of council members is in office primarily to keep the redevelopment from happening so that the drug business keeps going. I think they are mostly supremely incompetent. But by screwing over the Coatesville PD they certainly are making the drug business more profitable. They are making Coatesville a dangerous place to live and a city that retail businesses and restaurants want to move out of.

Look for lots of "For Sale" signs in Coatesville. And maybe a store owner closing before a gun is pointed at her head again.

  1. if a housing initiative were to be launched you would come face to face with these people (bad element). Coatesville needs a neighborhood renaissance to take back these neighborhoods.

Housing...Housing...Housing... that is the way you revitalize Coatesville. It really is not that hard...you just need to political will to do it. pretty much straight up as i see it.

  2. Coatesville is a sad place to go, work, live, unless you deal drugs or profit from it. The new City Council is going to run the City down more, they have power and are using it the wrong way and for the wrong reasons. When is someone going to step in and do something? Is there anyone other then God that can? The City Council is to do for the good of the City and that is not happening. The moral of the employees suck, unless you are an employee that benifits from this Council. If you don't have a Council you can trust then people are not going to be happy in there work or trust there employer. That is not a good work situation. Nothing against Mr.Bell; but he can not even carry a gun and is not quilified to be a Chief. So why would you pay someone to do a job that they can not do?? Maybe because they are friends with someone on City Council and there is a hidden agenda. It is very sad. Why are these Ignorant people even in these positions? I know, cause other Ignorant people put them there. That shows where The City of Coatesville is going.
