For the love of Pete why are we celebrating this? This isn't about celebrating but learning from the past. It's ridiculous in my opinion that the 'historical society' is advertising this. Seriously how stupid can they be? Great now we just divide the City more. I cannot tell you how embarrassed I was to walk up to City Hall and see this on the door. I want the City to learn from its past but to 'Celebrate' this really seems more self centered then community driven.
ReplyDeleteThere were between 100 and 200 people at the Historical Society event in Coatesville today. People want to know what happened in 1911 and why it happened.
ReplyDeleteThere is general feeling of animosity between West Chester Borough and the City of Coatesville. I think it’s in part a patrician vs. working class animosity dating back to even beyond the industrial revolution. But I think the Lynching of Zack Walker plays a large part in why West Chester looks down its nose at the City of Coatesville.
