You could say that this scene from the G-20 summit is one of the saddest in US History; a US President being treated as a low life untouchable by world leaders.
It is a very bad time to have an Executive Branch composed of incompetent political hacks.
How many hits from George W Bush can the USA take before we go down for the count?
I think that W is capable of destroying us by January 20th. He has got to be persuaded to step down and just play golf or at least allow some Obama appointees in his administration right now.

We Found the W.M.D.
By THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN
So, I have a confession and a suggestion. The confession: I go into restaurants these days, look around at the tables often still crowded with young people, and I have this urge to go from table to table and say: “You don’t know me, but I have to tell you that you shouldn’t be here. You should be saving your money. You should be home eating tuna fish. This financial crisis is so far from over. We are just at the end of the beginning. Please, wrap up that steak in a doggy bag and go home.”
Now you know why I don’t get invited out for dinner much these days. If I had my druthers right now we would convene a special session of Congress, amend the Constitution and move up the inauguration from Jan. 20 to Thanksgiving Day. Forget the inaugural balls; we can’t afford them. Forget the grandstands; we don’t need them. Just get me a Supreme Court justice and a Bible, and let’s swear in Barack Obama right now — by choice — with the same haste we did — by necessity — with L.B.J. in the back of Air Force One.

Time for Him to Go
By GAIL COLLINS
Thanksgiving is next week, and President Bush could make it a really special holiday by resigning.
Seriously. We have an economy that’s crashing and a vacuum at the top. Bush — who is currently on a trip to Peru to meet with Asian leaders who no longer care what he thinks — hasn’t got the clout, or possibly even the energy, to do anything useful. His most recent contribution to resolving the fiscal crisis was lecturing representatives of the world’s most important economies on the glories of free-market capitalism.
Putting Barack Obama in charge immediately isn’t impossible. Dick Cheney, obviously, would have to quit as well as Bush. In fact, just to be on the safe side, the vice president ought to turn in his resignation first. (We’re desperate, but not crazy.) Then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would become president until Jan. 20. Obviously, she’d defer to her party’s incoming chief executive, and Barack Obama could begin governing.

Beggars Banquet
The absence of leadership in the United States was painfully apparent when New York and the Pentagon were burning while W read “My Pet Goat”.

VALLEJO, Calif. — This city is broke. Bankrupt. A ward of the courts. The police have pared their ranks, and every day two fire stations temporarily close, a rolling blackout of basic services.
Do we bailout Vallejo?
What about Philadelphia, Atlanta or Phoenix? They want $50 billion in emergency loans.
Years ago, when a close friend of mine lost his 75-year-old family retail business in Pittsburgh with the collapse of the steel industry, the federal government was nowhere to lend a hand to small business owners.
When aluminum factories in Spokane, Wash., folded after a corporate raider picked them to the bone, destroying the best middle-class jobs for blue collar workers in the city where I grew up, the government’s advice to people losing their homes, cars and dignity was: Learn how to say, “You want fries with that?”
And when this city of 120,000, one of the few places in the Bay Area where someone with a middle income could live well, filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, it became little more than a talking point in the debate over bloated public employee unions.
We like to think the free market picks our winners and losers. In its purest form, this is only true in Republican Disneyland. What was left of that illusion was swept away with words that will begin many a master’s in business theses in future years: “When President Bush nationalized the banking industry back in 2008 …”

Memories of the Republican Party
There is an article in today’s Daily Local News titled “Pendulum swinging to the left” http://www.dailylocal.com/articles/2008/11/07/news/srv0000003990761.txt#blogcomments
Swing to the Left?
It is a swing toward the middle. The Republican Party of Eisenhower died years ago. What was described by President Eisenhower as a “radical fringe element” is now the “base” of the Republican Party.
“Hijacked by a relatively small few, the GOP of today bears no resemblance to Lincoln, Roosevelt or Eisenhower’s party, or many of the other Republican administrations that came after. In my grandparents’ time, the thrust of the party was rooted in: a respect for the constitution; the defense of civil liberties; a commitment to fiscal responsibility; the pursuit and stewardship of America’s interests abroad; the use of multilateral international engagement and “soft power”; the advancement of civil rights; investment in infrastructure; environmental stewardship; the promotion of science and its discoveries; and a philosophical approach focused squarely on the future.” Susan Eisenhower –
from Reflections on Leaving the Party-The National Interest Online

Younger persons, no matter what their political affiliation, may not realize that civic responsibility was at the core of the former, remembered Republican Party.
Desegregation began in the Eisenhower administration. I remember the “Little Rock Nine” and the photos of Army troops protecting them. The segregationists or as we called them “The Segs” were Democrats of the South.
President Nixon created the EPA and OSHA. Nixon promoted the Legacy Parks program and implemented the “Philadelphia Plan”; the very first affirmative action program.
The older registered Republicans in Chester County are clinging to the memory of the political party of their youth that has the same name but no longer exists. The Democratic Party as it now exists is nearly a mirror image of that remembered Republican Party of Country Clubs, Cadillacs and above all; civic responsibility.
This is from Wikipedia on President Eisenhower:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eisenhower
“Civil rights
Eisenhower supported the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka U.S. Supreme Court decision, in which segregated ("separate but equal") schools were ruled to be unconstitutional. The very next day he told District of Columbia officials to make Washington a model for the rest of the country in integrating black and white public school children.[41][42] He proposed to Congress the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1960 and signed those acts into law. Although both Acts were weaker than subsequent civil rights legislation, they constituted the first significant civil rights acts since the 1870s. The "Little Rock Nine" incident of 1957 involved the refusal by Arkansas to honor a Federal court order to integrate the schools. Under Executive Order 10730, Eisenhower placed the Arkansas National Guard under Federal control and sent Army troops to escort nine black students into an all-white public school. The integration did not occur without violence. Eisenhower and Arkansas governor Orval Faubus engaged in tense arguments.”

A tip of the hat MoveOn.org;
Their members were some of the best campaign workers in Chester County. They helped put Barack Obama over the top in Pennsylvania.
I believe that the Republican Party of Eisenhower, country clubs, Cadillacs, patriots and civic responsibility that once was one of the pillars of Democracy in the United States has long been dead. I think that it has been usurped by a Kleptocracy of white collar criminals that uses fear and prejudice as a cover for theft.
Those of us who believe in Democracy and not the Kleptocracy of white collar criminals that I believe now constitutes the bulk of the Republican Party card carrying members are grateful for the tremendous contribution to Democracy of MoveOn.org.
It’s my understanding that Move On has 4.2 Million members that’s about 700,000 more members than the National Rifle Association.

President-Elect Barack Obama in Chicago
I believe the Obama Campaign is unprecedented in US politics; it is the absolute best run campaign that I have ever seen.
The Obama Staffers are DEMOCRACY WARRIORS!
As all of us connected by email or text messaging to the Obama Campaign knows, we are still together.
We will be together and connected with President Obama.
I believe the political pundits will be in shock over what President Obama will accomplish.
YES WE DID!
I get all teary-eyed every time I view President Elect Barack Hussein Obama's Chicago speech.

We already have the brooms up and running-Next-the indictments.
As far as I know the polling people don’t consider election fraud and election suppression; the gamblers that bet on US Elections in Europe do and it’s my understanding that the odds for Obama there are still overwhelming.
Obama is already in the bag for the White House. From my viewpoint election suppression and election fraud are the only possible way for Republicans to win and win only in some of the down ballot elections. But, election fraud and election suppression can’t be used on a broad scale. You can go to prison for it and extensive fraud means more eyes looking. More eyes mean more chances of being caught. I think that the Obama tsunami is just too big and the eyes on this election are too many for election fraud and election suppression to work well.
The Bush Administration has all but eliminated the Civil Rights Division of the USDoJ. The organized crime investigative units have been disseminated by the Bush Administration. Investigation of white collar crime was virtually non-existent and has only been stepped up because of a demanding public that witnessed the extravagant stealing of the financial sector.
Maybe President Obama will replace the FBI and USDoJ people that the Bush Administration got rid of and build the USDoJ back up so that it can investigate organized crime, civil rights violations and white collar crime again. A lot of people are impatiently salivating.
A generation of Republicans know they are in very very deep trouble and have already begun looking for any life vests that may fall from US Attorneys.
