Joe is right on the money with this statement:
"If they say they can do it, it will happen,” Disciullo said.

Like I wrote in the post:
"The developers the National Velodrome Center, LP and Velodrome Management Group, LLC now have look very good. And I think finding new developers of such high caliber on short notice shows the high level of professionalism of the National Velodrome."

I believe that for the most part the DLN article suggests that it’s taking a long time.

I think Don Pulver’s hotel project took an extraordinarily long time because there were influential local people dead set against any redevelopment in Coatesville including the hotel. There are still local people dead set against any redevelopment in Coatesville (because redevelopment is ultimately harmful to the drug business) but they are not at all influential. Development in Coatesville can now proceed at a normal pace.

And the National Velodrome is not taking a long time. Keep in mind that back in the days when suburban subdivisions were growing like grass in Chester and Montgomery Counties the average subdivision development took 5 or 6 years to break ground. It’s not an easy process.

If the National Velodrome is built in 3 or 4 years that’s very, very quick. It’s just that there is a bunch of people with zero knowledge of real estate development complaining about how long it takes.

If you're going to make a statement like that then get all the facts. The FACT was that the deal got pushed because of the parcel of land with Amtrak. Without that parcel there was NO deal with anyone. Your investigation on the previous developers has weight but the fact of manner is the parcel. The RDA attorneys found that this parcel of land was still owned by Amtrak after the previous RDA solicitor stated otherwise. The sign-off by the previous solicitor paved the way for the Riverwalk so as you can imagine until the RDA was able to purchase that parcel back everything else was dead in water. That's the reason why it has taken so long. You have to remember that even with that parcel the County is triple checking everything the RDA does to ensure nothing like this happens again.

Still can't seem to fathom why the city manager is not living in the city as stated in his contract. If I have to follow rules and laws, why not anyone else. It is do as you please around here. Watched the street sweeper drive around cars this morning on Lincoln highway.....right at the new and improved apartments right past the tennis courts. Think they received a ticket....nah...probably not.

As far as the staff, one took off for India but most of the people that gave us the 2008 budget with the missing $168,000 in cash are still there. That missing $168,000 was discovered in the forensic audit that Manny Dechter nearly finished. Mr. Dechter was tossed out when he exposed the unpaid trash bills of Marty Eggleston and Ed Simpson. Don't hold your breath for a new forensic audit.

Here's the kicker - Canale and Shesko are up this year to be bought out of their contract (because of seniority) and if they choose not to accept it guess who gets laid off? Officer Ollis. Amazing - so we would lose Officer Ollis who has proven time and time again the value to this community over these guys? So we have a police Chief who likes the title but doesn't want to do the job (because he's training at the FBI academy) and the Lt. who sued the City and won and still here and then we have Officer Ollis who will be snatched up by another PD department if this comes through. Does anyone see the lunacy of this logic? But hey it's Coatesville - where locals know more then the rest of world and bobbleheads like Rawlings bankrupt the City.
Might want to ask City Council what ever happened to the recommendations from Joe Carroll he forwarded to the City (about how to keep from laying off officers) and never were received by Council members? Hmm was it that the email server was down or that those in charge of the server blocked the email domain? Yeah rumor has it that IT admin seems to block anything they don't want anyone to see coming in.....

Tre Davis didn't have much of a criminal record, nothing in the records that would hold him back in looking for a job or going to college. As I wrote earlier; “From what I know Tre Leonis Davis was not what I call a bad kid. He might have been a little volatile. He had some reckless endangerment, damage to property and a simple assault charge. All of them in Magisterial Court. Nothing in Common Pleas Court. I'm pretty sure that I met him briefly. He was only 19.”

Not everyone has the abilities to deal with troubled youth. But, any way that you can serve your community helps us to build a better place to live. A city that is good to live in helps all of us.

Shouldn't matter what kind of record he has, no one deserves to die like this. Gunned down in cold blood in a dark lot. Instead of slinging mud about Tre, why don't those same people put that energy into discovering WHY this type of violence continues in the residential areas. Let me help them...Tre was shot because for years the good residents of Coatesville are all talk. They want something done, but are not willing to help with the process.

Before blaming the police for any of this mess, take a look back at what YOU have done people! They can only do so much alone. Such a shame that more lives will be needlessly lost and still nothing will be accomplished with the exception of complaining!

Get off your butts! Go to a meeting! Volunteer for one of the many groups trying to make changes. This is YOUR city! If YOU aren't willing to do anything, don't expect anyone else to.

I believe that Manny Dechter, who was 80 years old at the time, had materials thrown at him by a City employee and that that same employee punched Ms. Bjorhus (I saw her black eye). You'd think that employee would have been fired on the spot. They "fired" the forensic auditor and after a time Stacy Bjorhus.
I believe Ms. Bjorhus was not fired earlier because Karl Marking was on City Council and they knew he was likely to spill the beans in public.

The city has way too much money in the bank to be financially insolvent. I think that the way to clean up city hall is with a grand jury or an FBI public corruption investigation.

What is the city manager trying to acccomplish by reduction in police workforce? The former DA wanted to work with council and the manager to work on the budget...didn't happen. Prior studies Charette on redelevopment...yet another survey? Is financial insolvency the only way to eliminate this blatent incompetence. I know what you mean. Sometimes drug houses and drug transactions are obvious. I think two things could be going on. The first is we don't have enough police. The second is there may be an investigation in progress with wiretaps and videos. Such as the "Breadwinner" investigation.
If Rawlings and some city council members succeed in laying off 10 officers we certainly will have a very bad summer. Coatesville will be a strictly reactionary force with no community building and no investigations. Business will be "good again" in Coatesville, dealers from Philly will move back in and the street gangs will be building a base of youngsters.

Rawlings just doesn't care. If he did - he wouldn't have blatantly disregarded the CONTRACT that SPECIFIED he needed to live in the city as a condition of his employment. People at the meeting just are afraid to say anything about the missing money. Than again people do not have money to throw at a lawyer. What the City of Coatesville does and what is good for the City of Coatesville have long been at odds. My hopes aren't high, but if there is a chance they'll see the economic benefits, which are quite obvious, then there is a chance this project will pull through. I'm frankly surprised they haven't looked elsewhere.
