Welcome to the Coatesville Dems Blog

Public Corruption in Chester County, PA

I believe an unlikely mix of alleged drug trafficking related politicos and alleged white nationalist related politicos united to elect the infamous “Bloc of Four” in the abysmal voter turnout election of 2005. During their four year term the drug business was good again and white nationalists used Coatesville as an example on white supremacist websites like “Stormfront”. Strong community organization and support from law enforcement, in particular Chester County District Attorney Joseph W. Carroll has begun to turn our community around. The Chester County drug trafficking that I believe centers on Coatesville continues and I believe we still have public officials in place that profit from the drug sales. But the people here are amazing and continue to work against the odds to make Coatesville a good place to live.

13 Days + ? in July

Some Republicans and a few ultra-wealthy conservative Republicans care religiously about not paying taxes. There’s the old story nothing is certain but death and taxes. I think it's better to err on the side of taxes.
Democrats John F Kennedy and Robert F Kennedy got Nikita Khrushchev to remove the missiles. Some Republicans including General Curtis LeMay wanted to bomb the missiles. At that time the missiles were thought not to be operational.
We now know the missiles were operational and if Nixon had won the election most of the people then living on the East Coast would have died, at best.

The Republicans just had an economic version of the 13 Days in October. They played the Russians. The economy didn't blow up yet.
In the Cuban Missile Crisis Nikita Khrushchev made a deal with President Kennedy.   There was no deal yet with President Obama the Republicans   Mitch McConnell’s white flag surrender to President Obama didn’t fly with the Teabaggerevanglical  Republicans.
All the news reports over the impasse and polling is about voters. I think the polls only consider voters. But defaulting hurts everyone on earth.
Democrats are interested in winning elections but they are also concerned with the welfare of all Americans not only the ultra-wealthy.
Republicans are only looking at winning elections and the welfare of extremely wealthy persons.
President Obama knows cutting Social Security to reduce the deficit is Voodoo Economics but he thinks it makes him look like a compromiser to independent minded voter; not considering that independent voters might be clueless and raising Social Security could enrage them to the point of violence.
Again, all people living in the USA have near immediate access to all the guns they can carry. And it can all be in secret if they go to one of the unmarked tables at gun shows. The Secret Service can't protect every Senator and Congressman, especially when the threat can come from the 35% of non-voters off of everyone's radar.
I think that defaulting can cause the world to explode in violence. I think that cutting back Social Security or Medicare can cause the USA to explode in violence.
Whatever the violent reactions of defaulting or reductions in Social Security or reductions in Medicare could be, they would not come all at once.
The terrible economic and social effects wrought by Republicans and feeble Democrats would take years to unfold.
There is a much bigger monster.
To any possible violent reaction to politicians taking away jobs, Social Security and medical care you need to add the effect of real violence from storms, floods, droughts and fires caused by Global Warming.
Some changes to default might occur immediately such as non-payment of active servicemen’s pay, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. The permanent rise in interest rates caused by default will occur more slowly over a period of years. Maybe by that time every climate change denier will be silenced by extreme weather and the talk about climate change will go from disinterest, to fear, to panic.
And a feeling of nothing to lose; just add the easy availability of firearms to that mix.
We may avoid default but it’s not over yet.
There is time to change all that, but not much time.
